Botanical Description:  A large handsome evergreen conifer tree reaching upto 85 m in height, with almost rough black furrowed bark and spreading branches ; shoots dimorphic ; leaves needle like sharp pointed, male cones solitary, cylindric at the ends of the branchlets, female cones solitary at teh ends of branchlets composed of imbricating thin woody placental scales ; seeds pale brown, wings longer than the seeds. The heartwood of deodar is light yellowish brown, turning brown on exposure. It is oily, fragrant, and strong. The flowering & Fruiting is from April to January.
