Indian name: Vijaysar
Habitat: It is found in hilly regions of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Orissa. It is also found in forests of Karnal, Kerala, West Bengal and Assam.
Useful in: The aqueous infusion of the wood is considered to be of much use in diabetes. It used as astringent and also in the treatment of diabetes. The alcoholic, as well as, aqueous extract of heartwood is known to possess hypoglycemic action. The cups made from wood of the tree are available with Khadi and Gramodyog industries for cure of diabetes. Vijaysar has been documented to help in regeneration of B Cells of pancreas.
