Latin name: Ocimum sanctum
Indian name: Tulsi
Habitat: It is a herbaceous, much branched annual plant found throughout India . It is considered as sacred by Hindus. The plant is commonly cultivated in garden and also grown near temples.
Useful in: Leaves are useful in cardiopathy, asthma, bronchitis; its juice is useful in all types of cough. The oil is antibacterial and insecticidal. The drug is a good immuno- modulatory agent.
